Alsatian House Strasbourg – Lohkäs ceramic miniature — handcrafted replica of the famous Strasbourg "winstub" (wine bar/restaurant) housed in a magnificent half-timbered house dating from 1676, classified as a historical monument and owned by the city of Strasbourg.
Located in the heart of the Petite France district, the house owes its name to "lohkäs," a vegetable tanning residue once dried and sold as fuel in Strasbourg homes. Its floor, lower than the street level, testifies to its original function as a storage place. Today, its tiled stove and Limonaire organ make it one of Strasbourg's most authentic gastronomic institutions.
Each piece is shaped and painted by hand, making it unique: slight variations in shape and color make each house an exclusive and authentic object.
This miniature house can be used as a decorative object or as an incense burner: a tea light placed inside diffuses light through the windows, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere.
It makes an original souvenir of Alsace or a gift idea for lovers of Alsatian heritage.
