Maison Katz – Saverne ceramic miniature — handcrafted replica of the famous Maison Katz, built in 1605 by Henri Katz, tax collector general of the Bishopric of Strasbourg, on which Saverne then depended.
Listed as a historical monument since 1929, its magnificent sculpted half-timbered facade illustrates the German Renaissance style and is one of the architectural gems of the Bas-Rhin region. Having been a butcher shop and a cooperage over the centuries, it now houses the Taverne Katz, one of Alsace's most renowned winstubs.
Each piece is shaped and painted by hand, making it unique: slight variations in shape and color make each house an exclusive and authentic item.
This miniature house can be used as a decorative object or as an incense burner: a tea light placed inside diffuses light through the windows and creates a warm and intimate atmosphere.
It makes for an original souvenir of Alsace or a gift idea for lovers of Alsatian heritage.
