Whose name means "the Emperor's mountain," Kaysersberg became an imperial city in 1293. The birthplace of Albert Schweitzer, Nobel Peace Prize winner in 1952, it is dominated by the ruins of its 13th-century imperial castle and is traversed by the Weiss River. Its Renaissance and half-timbered houses make it one of the gems of the Wine Route.
